Getting admitted to Architecture school

Getting a seat in a good or at least a decent architecture college is a fairly tough task. I secured a rank of ~550 out of ~40000 students who appeared the entrance examination but I am facing difficulty in getting admitted to some of the best architecture colleges across India.
Seriously? A person securing 98.5 percentile could not even get admitted to best architecture school across the subcontinent?
Anyways, I have been allotted a seat in one of the best(haha) institute in southern India. India practices a reservation system under which certain underprivileged people, people belonging to some minority groups have been assigned reserved seats in the institutes across India. This makes the competition fairly more extensive. But still, students get admitted to these schools.
The new session for the year 2017-18 will start from mid-August, I guess. Till then, I will be enjoying my holidays.
